Microsoft has an excellent collection of free cross platform fonts. With a
curious licensing policy. You can put them on your web site for your users
to download for free, but you can't them on your CD-ROM, unless you ask for
a free license to distribute Internet Explorer with your CD, in which case
they provide a handy installer and the fonts for free (as part of the
Explorer installer). Most people on Mac and Windows already have these
fonts installed because Explorer comes preinstalled on these systems. The
fonts are all available from this site:
