I just found something else with truncated text. I tried loading a 16K tab-delimited text file into a field and the Mac appeared to hang. It turns out that any changes to the field were taking MC up to 2 or 3 minutes to process. During that time, everything else was locked out -- not only all MC windows, but also switching to other apps, etc. The field had about 50 columns and 50 lines of text.
