We've compiled all of our shareware onto a shareware demo CD, and use it as advertising. We sell a copy for shipping and production costs. And we give copies out when we believe there'll be benefit. (Like right now we're selling off old software on eBay, and we ship a demo CD with whatever they buy :-) With our next release, now in alpha testing, we'll be sending the CD to Mac magazines in hopes of a few words of mention.
If any of you produce Macintosh shareware, we'd be more than happy to include it on our CD in exchange for a link on your website :-) Even Metacard itself...
