textStyle -> linkText

Can someone tell me what to do to remove a link?  Assuming I've 
selected the linked text I would have thought the following would work, 
it doesn't:

put the selectedChunk into tC
set the textStyle of tC to plain
put the textStyle of tC
-> plain
After setting the above textstyle returns "plain" but the hyperlink 
still appears on the text.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
