I ran across this thread when trying to diagnose a corrupt Address Book database on my wife's machine:

  http://www.equi4.com/pipermail/metakit/2004-December/001929.html

I think the original poster would have had more success if that final command in the suggestion were

./tclkit-darwin-ppc mk2tcl.kit \
'../Library/Application Support/AddressBook/AddressBook.data' > saved.txt

instead of

     ./tclkit-darwin-ppc mk2tcl.kit > saved.txt \
     '../Library/Application Support/AddressBook/AddressBook.data'

as written.

In any case, I'm not sure I got much useful info in my case either - a bunch of "mk::set" lines I don't understand, interspersed with a bunch of binary data I *definitely* don't understand. It doesn't seem to differ much qualitatively from my own (presumably) non-corrupt database.

Perhaps I'm jumping to a conclusion about the database being corrupt, but every once in a while lots of her contacts will just *disappear* from the Address Book. Like 60 or so out of 400. It sure sounds like corruption to me, but I guess I still don't know what's going on here.
