No idea how and when exactly it was introduced. I've re-installed mailman, but it does not seem to make any difference (SuSE 8.2, Yast Online Update).
Hopefully a Python guru reading this list has a tip on how to resolve this. Otherwise, I'll just assume it'll be addressed over the coming days and come down as an update.
