The current Appupdater client is actually RFC 5854 ready.  I forget if
I've made a release with that in it, but its definitely in subversion.
Since it uses the Metalink Checker library Appupdater repositories can
be created using v3 or v4 formats.  I haven't updated the repository
tools to generate v4 format yet just because of any old clients still
out there.  I'll make the switch at some point.  In fact since v4
clearly allows for additional namespaces I might just refactor the whole
repository format and make it a little cleaner that way.
