Firstly, I'd be interested in testing the MetalWeb beta.
For suggestions:
1. The main thing that needs to be improved is speed! Unfortunately
MetalWeb is simply unusable on my 50mhz 68030 machine. I know it's not
exactly a zippy processor but I imagine a large part of your market
owns similar speed processors. The main thing that makes MetalWeb slow
is that images need to be decoded whenever the page layout changes. If
there is a way to avoid this (surely there is...) then it would make a
MAJOR difference to the speed and usability of the program. I do find
MetalMap useful by the way - I got MetalWeb with Netconnect3 if you
were wondering.
2. For some reason on my system the colours are terrible! I am running
MetalWeb on a 6-bit screen (I've only got AGA), i.e. 64 colours cause
256 colours is too slow to display. It doesn't seem to be a problem
with the datatypes because they display much better in other programs
that use them - e.g. I run WebVision on a 64 colour screen with the
same jfif datatype for the jpeg pictures and it looks okay, but in
MetalWeb it looks like it only uses about 8 colours! I've tried
changing to 256 colour mode but it looks exactly the same. Any idea
what could cause this???
MetalWeb is a great idea, and it's going well. I look forward to the
next update. :)
> Thanks.
> P.S.: Please excuse me for my really bad english. thx
Your english isn't that bad at all. Much better than my spanish ;)
