I should add that I think it’d be valuable if a proof verifier/proof assistant 
was invokable through just a web browser. It doesn’t need to be full speed, but 
one you can try out can be really helpful.

If Rust is used, there’s an obvious way to do that: WebAssembly. Compile the 
Rust library into WebAssembly, then invoke it from JavaScript. That would mean 
that a single library could be used in different circumstances.
