Thanks everybody for the reply. I had a feeling that the Post Office was the likely culprit. I would suggest to all that if you ship a package, do not put anything that would imply "meteorite", "meteoritical", "mineral", or the like on the package. That certainly makes for an easy target for sticky fingers.
