If you follow eBay's rules to the letter and qualify for the 20% discount
through their DSR system, then the seller will end up paying around 15% between
eBay and PayPal fees.  This is about as much as a dealer can bear before
supporting a website of their own is the reason sellers stick to eBay.  They
also have the largest buying audience in the world so you do not have to
advertise much.

An auction house, on the other hand, can cost well over 50% if you count the
buyer's premium which I do!  I count the buyer's premium because the buyer will
only bid a certain amount so it is really coming out of the sellers pocket.   A
lot of large auction houses engage in unsavory practices and have been caught
with their hand in the cookie jar more than once.  Buyer confidence has taken a
beating because of shill-bidding, the big art scandals and false reporting of
prices realized.

I am not defending eBay but they have market share so they have to be taken
seriously.

There sure seems to be a ton of meteorite dealers on Ebay.  I look
around at other sites on the web and see no dealers taking advantage
of them or any attempt in spreading ones wings.  Why is that when Ebay
is all about squeezing you for their benefit...not yours or your
customers???
Is it such no one will venture out of a comfort zone or????
