Good luck at the show. I do not depend much on eBay these days although it
is a good place to liquidate items if you are not concerned about getting
anywhere near top dollar. I still believe better deals are to be had online
these days for collectors who choose to stay home and make deals. I feel
sorry for all the Tucson show attendees that came early believing they would
get a good deal (full retail) from the Moroccans who's inventories are stuck
in customs.
It is appalling that some meteorite personalities would be involved with
crowdfunding (kistarter scams) and I have no clue who Bagdad Bob is since I
tend to stay away from heavily monitored social media. I leave Facebook to
my wife who can waste time comparing recipes, posting pictures and other
small talk. Even the creator of Facebook didn't have an account until a
few years ago. He doesn't have time for it.
It will be good to get back in the field and away from those who I no longer
trust,
Adam

Adam, I am sorry the only one having adversity seems to be you.
Good luck with that, one day when you actually leave your house and use
those cool trucks you might be happier.
Tucson won't be the same without you. But everyone here is getting a kick
out of your posts regarding the show. It's ok, Bagdad Bob was funny as well.
Those of us still in the business are doing fine, well, with some exceptions
of people who think eBay sales and kickstarter scams will make them any
money.
Anyway, nice chatting with you, I have a very busy and large room of
meteorites to attend to.

Mike, you should be commended for putting on a brave face during
adversity. One just needs to look at news reports that have no reason to
lie about attendance. I noticed attendance dropping off last year when I
did go to the show. For the first time I can recall, getting a room is
no problem at all this year. I left my options open and decided a few
days ago it was not worth it for me this year. The lack of deals, bad
weather, Superbowl traffic, scams and lack of meteorite social gatherings
was enough to keep me away this year.
The truth is that most people do not have much disposable income to attend
the show in the first place is what the news is reporting.
The millennials could care less about collectables these days and don't
have any spare funds for non-electronic gadgets. I have a huge stockpile
of meteorites and a warehouse full of antiques to prove it. The only hot
items selling these days for me are vehicles and artifacts. My wife
acquired a large U.S. space program collection which I will start listing
items from in the up and coming weeks. My only hope is to break even on
it since it was acquired due to an investor failing to pay a note.
I wish all the honest dealers well and hope that collectors can find a
piece or two to add to their collections.

I'm confused, how could attendance be lowest in decades? The show starts
today. There are no rental cars and very hard to find a place to sleep in
the entire city. It is pouring rain and flooding and hotel is full,
parking lot completely full and people walking blocks in the rain to get
here.
My sales at just fine, and yes, there are no wholesale prices and supply
is down and prices are up.
Adam, Find new people to lie to you about the show because the ones
telling you this crap are delusional, or come down for yourself.

I take the "buyer's market" comment back. I just read some emails from
several collectors and one dealer that vendors are asking full retail and
there are very few bargains to be had. It used to be that it was worth
the price of traveling there in order to pick up a few good deals. No
such thing as wholesale prices until the end of the show when dealers
become desperate to move inventory, some of which is left over from
several years from past shows. In this case, the law of supply and
demand appear to be out of sync.
According to the press, there are a bunch of "tire kickers" who are
holding onto their now, very limited, hard-earned cash so we will have to
see what happens. I guess the lower cost of gas isn't helping or people
are distracted with the Superbowl hosted in Glendale, Arizona which is
expected to attract over one million tourists.
Go Seahawks!

I guess everybody's perception is different. I read that attendance is
the lowest in a decade and two meteorite dealers, one artifact dealer
and one mineral vendor I talked to said they would be lucky to earn
their show fees back and they probably will not be returning next year.
It looks like a buyers market to me.

Tucson is jumping. All hotels full. More people than in many years.
Sales are good. Supply is way down. Prices are up because supply running
out.
The show is great. Last year was my best year at the show, didn't sell a
million $$$ but actually not far from it.
People with no material and no ambition should stay home, as the show is
really active and walking required. The hotel parking lot was completely
full this morning, first time in a few years actually despite major
flooding rain.

It looks like only 9 meteorite vendors posted information on the Tuson
Information page so the show seems to be somewhat subdued this year;
probably a sign of the times. I decided not to attend this year for
many reasons. The only thing I will miss is the IMCA dinner and the
Michael Blood auction which no longer exists.
I would rather spend my hard earned funds from artifact sales on
searching for meteorites and other minerals.
Hopefully, some images of the IMCA dinner will be posted,

Hi all,
Any pics from Tucson? I wish I could have gone this year, and would
love to see what goodies I’m missing out on….
