Hi all,Meteorites have been of great interest to me and they tell a
fascinating story of our solar systems history as you all know.
As this debate has continued for so long,  it is a concern to me that some
attitudes border on hoarding While others seem to border on worship.
This is reminiscent of the extremes that have developed in the field of
vertebrate paleontology, especially regarding dinosaur fossils. Universities
and museums have become so extreme that they Advanced laws which were passed,
which now make it illegal for a private citizen to collect even a fragment of a
dinosaur bone on all public lands. There are countless individual bones on
public lands which have no scientific value and will never be researched. Yet
there are those in Authority who would rather have these turn to dust then end
up in a private collection.
There are thousands of Gibeon slices across this country which will never be
researched, but they have incalculable value to individuals who appreciate the
natural world and allows them to look back with imagination and awe to a
reality long past.
Let's continue to move forward together in our common interest which hopefully
will continue to be available to all.
Have an impactful day, DAN

 John,
I accept that meteorites have to be cut to study the matrix, and re-cut so more
experts can study it, and cut even smaller in thin-sections to be studied some
more. And I accept that pieces go to collectors for safe keeping and
preservation. But I don’t like meteorites being sliced and diced and minced
into tiny crumbs that are not even recognizable.
As for spheres, skulls, rings, ……and over knick-knacks, No. It is adding insult
to injury.

What does this mean?-- "personally would prefer a good sculpted, well sized
Gibeon individual in as found condition. Together with an etched endcut"So it
is okay to have an individual of a meteorite and Slice into it for Your etched
endcut. Think about it, ya'll are agreeing to to Cut it Your way--but noother.
Still confused?????----- Original Message ----- From: Mattias Bärmann via

MeteoriteLadies and Gentlemen, well, this is of course not a work of art.
Amazing craftmanship - yes (if it's not a product of a 3 D printer, of course
^^)One might call this object obsessive, even idiotic. Nevertheless, the shape
of the skull is a perfect sculpture of itself, and I don't hesitate finding it
fascinating to follow the Widmanstaetten patterns and their transformations
through the utmost complexe sculptural landscape of volumes, depressions ...I
agree, the imagination of the wasted material makes depressive. Conclusion? I
personally would prefer a good sculpted, well sized Gibeon individual in as
found condition. Together with an etched endcut. (Would absolutely do to keep
the pic in a virtual poison chest for contemplation.)RegardsMatthiasAm
