Thank you so much for the report on Dan's condition, Anne! Those of us who knew Dan and were there at the NM Mineral Symposium, had heard Sunday morning that Dan had had "something heart-related" happen and was at a hospital in Albuquerque, but no one knew anything of the details, nor what his condition was. We'd had a dinner banquet for the symposium that Saturday evening, and Dan and Brenda were there then--in fact, I even sat at the table with them--and at that time Dan had never said one word about having had any medical issue! Very glad that he is doing well, and that there were friends and family to pitch in and help. Pete

This week took a bit of a turn on its head. Sunday morning my Dad had a heart attack. He and my mom were out at a mineral symposium they attend every year in Socorro, New Mexico with the airstream when Dad started having chest pain Friday night. When he went to the emergency room in the tiny town Sunday morning, they decided to fly him by helicopter to Albuquerque. Wonderful friends of my parents drove my mom the hour or so to the Hospital and helped button down the Airstream, I immediately got on the road and drove the 6.5hrs to get there (it was faster than I could get a flight there), and my awesome husband and best friend Brynn, took over things at home so I could leave quickly. Dad had a stent put in and they determined he had a STEMI, which is the most severe type of heart attack. Of course, you’d never know it from Dad. Just hours afterwards, he was very much himself. I think the hardest thing will be convincing Dad to take it seriously. Ha. He’s doing very well considering all he went through (and the fact that he waited so long to take himself to the ER). The doctors and nurses have all been wonderful and he’s been in great hands. The Dr saw very little damage and is confident his heart will recover well if he sticks to his cardio rehab and does what he’s supposed to. He was released today and we got to go have lunch together and take a nice leisurely walk through the Albuquerque Balloon Museum. My Dad’s brother Chuck is on a plane here now and will be helping us start the journey home with my car and the truck and trailer tomorrow. We will be taking it slow, but hopefully we will all be home soon. Dad’s in great spirits and feeling really good, so again, the hardest thing will be keeping him slowed down a bit to let his heart heal. We’re so thankful he’s doing so well. We are so grateful for all the amazing friends and family we have that have reached out and been so amazing and helpful. My parents have such a great support system and so do I. So thank you.
