Hi Howard,

I bought that book last week, mainly because of William K. Hartmann's artwork but the text is great as well.  Chapter 25 is devoted to Martian meteorites.  Well worth the price.

Subject: [meteorite-list] Found a new Mars book!

Hi list,
Going to the corner bookstore for a coffee break I just found a cool new book:

"A Traveler's Guide to Mars"  by William K. Hartmann, 468pp., Workman Publishing (C. june 2003) ISBN 0-7611-2606-6  $18.95.

some possiblities here:

"Notice:Twenty-five percent of the royalty proceeds from this book go to support Mars research and publich outreach at the Planetary Science Institute,Tuscon, Arizona."

Never hear of them, Should've I? Do any of our Tuscon people, or anyone else for that matter, know these guys?  Showing my ignorance here. What do they think of us rock hounds?

Also give me thoughts:

"Workman books are available at special discount when purchaced in bulk for premiums and sales promotion as well as for fund-raising or educational use. Special editions or book excerpts can also be created to specifications."

Anyhow lots of pictures and mars geology and geography involved. Short chapter on mars meteorite but had some information that I didn't know.(i.e. salty water on mars? )

Has anybody else seen this book  or has any list member participated in compiling this book?
