(a) Interestingly, we saw more Perseids before midnight
    than after midnight.

(b) We observed a slightly larger number of brighter meteors
    before midnight.

(c) The ones after midnight seemed to be fainter, foreshortened
and *very* fast as we were looking for them closer to their
radiant which was now much higher in the sky.

(d) The very bright ones were all of an orange/yellow color.

(e) Several bright Perseid meteors left easily visible smoke trains.

Not Perseid-related - but just as exciting :-)

During moments of clear seeing and with "averted vision", we
could glimpse the Andromeda Galaxy without optical aid !!!

Cheers from
Germany,

Bernd
