What we need, is a standard meteorite record card with the history of the specimen on it, (and if the rock gets cut, the card gets copied and the new owner/info gets added to it). Certainly with Lunar and Martian stuff, it might be a good idea.. at least it could be traced almost back to the original finder/purchaser.
