Hello List,
I just got back from my vacation to Sedona , AZ.
Arizona is a incredibly diverse state well worth a visit especially for a meteorite collector. We seen the Grand Canyon, Lava fields and Volcanoes near Flagstaff, ancient Indian ruins, and Sedona.

I got to the meteor crater for the first time and I recommend that itself for any collector. Absolutely awesome. I managed to do some hunting about one mile from the crater on Friday. I came up with a simple method to keep my butt out of jail ........ and it worked. I found 8 meteorite fragments in less than 10 minutes of searching. The stuff is everywhere. Most of it is heavily oxidized but hell any meteorite find is cool to me. I tried to make it to Holbrook but the heat was too much for my kids. They didn't like the idea of sitting in the air-conditioned car while I hunted. My initial plan was to make it to Franconia also. I did do some random checks for meteorites on my way from Sedona back to Phoenix. I didn't find anything unfortunately. Im surprised that more list members that reside in Arizona don't hunt the deserts there. I know allot of the land is protected but there is plenty of areas to look. When I went to the ruins near Flagstaff the terrain seemed very suitable for hunting all the way to the painted desert. If I only had more time and I didn't have the family with I would have hunted much more.

Here's some photos of the Crater and some of the Canyon Diablo that I found:

I'd like to thank the list members who made recommendations to me a few months back.
Arizona was great and I will be back there to look for more meteorites.
