The meteorite market segment was exactly
five minutes and ten seconds long, including
introductory babble, a clip from the Star Trek
sound track, and the theme from Star Wars.
That's show biz. They used less than a
minute on each of the four interviewees, the
least on Randy Korotev, the most on Robert
Pearlmen.
They suggested meteorites were as good an
investment as your 401(k), because "the market
is in ruin" but meteorites will soon dry up, making
them priceless.

I took part in this interview a couple of weeks ago, good to hear it made
it
out there. At least on my part I talked about how the internet and ebay
have
made meteorites more available and more affordable to everyone. Now for
the
price of a fast food dinner for two... you could instead buy a piece of
the
moon or mars. This was NOT the case a few years ago.
Not sure how much of my interview made it on the air, but the reporter and
I
recorded for 35 minutes! The show must have had some exposure, because I
have had 2 thousands more hits than usual in my ebay store!

The program featured interviews with Michael Cottingham,

The interviewer actually used the classic Carl Sagan phrase
"billions and billions," but in the financial context that the
"meteorite trade is worth billions and billions of dollars."
The program "Marketplace" is public radio's stock market,
corporate news, and big business news segment.
Worth a listen, meteorite fans, if for no other reason than
to hear meteorites make the financial news.
