I have access to many of these academic databases because for the next 9 months I am still in grad school. E-mail me your paper needs and I will see if I can get them through my library account. P.S. I just looked and I can get into ScienceDirect, including the full text of the Chicxulub paper.

Yeah, it's a real problem at the moment, virtually all the decent papers
have dried up on the net, only accessible by these 'companies' that
offer access to papers in return for $$ payment. Far as I'm concerned
most of these research projects where paid for from government funds,
that makes them public property, so they should be available free! IMHO.
It's the same for datasheets on technical products and components,
trying to get free information is getting worse not better as the net
expands.

Maybe paper authors should specify 'no payment should be made for this
paper' on the copyright - Either that or someone should start a central
open source science paper archive...

Is there any way to get hold of some of these articles
from someone on loan? The martian meteorite one looks
interesting for the abstract but I object to paying
$30 to some institution for something I may understand
less than 20% of.
