Norton's Field Guide to Meteors and Meteorites, p. 255: "When mixing ethanol/nitric acid solution great care should be taken to see that the nitric acid is always poured *into the alcohol beaker, never the reverse! This prevents splattering of the acid as it is applied to the working solution.
