thanks to all who answered! i believe the roll tap is the solution! we have tapped alot of 0-80, 00-96 etc. in copper and aluminum, plus the 4-40 is running fine in this same scenario, so i honestly don't think speed or synchronization is my problem. so based on the assumption that waste material is caught in the thread (it's not even a buildup, a ring of invar just sits on the tap like a little necklace), the solutions will definitely be: a) serious friggin' airblast <--- gotta eat more beans b) have the bench boys finalize the tapping <--- probable solution this time c) roll tap <--- preferred
