I recently upgraded to XP Pro (new hard drive, fresh install), set my
volume ID to what it was on the old hard drive, installed Amill and Aturn
Ver 11.5, and no license keys were required....... Splain dat Lucy.....
I put the keys in anyway, but haven't tried taking them back out.

Subject: Re: [mfg-smartcam] WIN XP
Hello all,
We've just recently moved our SmartCam license from a Win98 computer to a
computer with WinXP Professional, for Advanced Mill and Production Turning
on SmartCam version 9. I sent in for the new license key but the licensing
program wouldn't accept the new licenses, either the temporary or the
permanent, and the folks at EDS couldn't help. I tried re-installing etc.
but nothing would work.
Then I remembered that WinXP has a compatibility mode, effectively letting
a program run as if it were in Win95, Win98, etc. I tried this, setting
the compatibility mode to Win98, and VOILA, the licenses could now be
accepted!! I only had to use the compatibility mode trick on the licensing
program (licadm.exe), not the programs themselves (amill.exe or pturn.exe).
Everything seems to be working great. Simply find the licadm.exe file
(mine was under C:\SM9\System\licadm.exe) using Windows Explorer; right
click on the icon, click properties, click the Compatibility tab at the
top, check the box
for "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and click in the drop down
menu for the mode you want, then click OK. That's it.
Of course we bought a new computer, which is why this was necessary. I
don't know if the same issues would arise if you were to upgrade the
operating system on an existing computer.
Good luck,
