Dana,

It sounds as if your operating system opened your data file for writing
and locked up before completing the task and closing the file.

It is possible that the file was not overwritten. Scandisk can detect
files that were left open and can be set to save these "lost strings" as
a file in your root directory. The saved file will have a unique name
and extension. You can open this saved file with a text editor to see if
you recognize anything about it to show that it is your lost data file.
If you think it is, you can rename it as a .pm4 file and try to read it
back into SmartCam.

This is a long shot, but worth a try.

I keep a ZIP file of all the PM4 files belonging to a task in the same
folder. Periodically, I add the PM4 file I'm working on to the ZIP file.
That way, I have a backup of the same name in the ZIP that I can retreat
to. WinZip gives you the ability to right click on the file and choose
"Add to zip", which does this.
