xp actually looks at some of your hardware. i think the easiest option for smartcam is to just change the volume id and re install, then copy over your saved config files. I have all my config files in one folder that I copy over when I get a new pc.

It's probably an XP thing. Microsoft figured out how to keep people from "ghosting" hard drives to reduce pirating. There are several licensing options for XP, and only some of them can be "ghosted", such as enterprise or volumne licensing.

Hallo,

I want to set the same ID to different disks and I know how to set the
volume ID but not how to read.

Problem:

I tried to copy WinXP to another Hard Disk (with Norton Ghost). The system
is starting up but interrupts, telling me that there is a problem with the
registration (or something like that).

Is the possible reason that the disks have different Ids?
