DITTO !!!!!!!
Last 2 places of employment all we bought was Dell. Never had a hardware issue. Wife is a writer, been using the
same Dell laptop for about 2 years. Haven't had a problem. You could also try Gateway but I've read they are having
financial problems. 3rd in previous list of employers used Gateway, hardware and support were compariable to Dell but
that was mid 90s.

Good Luck

Best wishes, for your daughters endeavors at college.

For me there is only one source for purchasing family PCs and that is Dell.

Ive purchased my first two systems over the phone and my third one was an online purchase.

The tech support has always been extremely good.

I know I can purchase cheaper systems from the big box stores in the area but service is too slow and online tech is questionable.

Subject: [mfg-smartcam] OT: Laptop recommendation?

Hi all,

My daughter just started her first year of college. We're proud of her of course, but now she is tying up the family PC  <frown>. Any recommendations for an affordable laptop that has performed well for you? Looking for something that will suit a typical student's needs; word processor, spreadsheet, cd burner, modem to go online, etc. Also don't want it to be too heavy because she is on the petite side.

Thanks!

Regards,
