We're going to lose a hell of a lot more than jobs the longer the Texan with the 91 IQ is in the Oval Office, my friend.

Subject: [mfg-smartcam] Dell love fest

Hi all,

While I recognize that Dell indeed makes a fine product, you should also know that they don't make ANY of their own laptops. In fact, there are only a small number of laptop manufacturers in the world who produce them for everyone else. The only two I am familiar with who manufacture their own are Sony and Toshiba. I believe there are one or two others, but don't know the companies. In Dell's defense, even though their laptops (and just about everything else) are made in China, their products are made to THEIR specifications, and the support is good. Then again, most all other computer manufacturers have moved production to China also.

On soapbox:

Send your thanks for the loss of American jobs to Bill Clinton who pushed for "Most favored nation" status to be granted to China as a trade partner.

Off soapbox.

Anyway, yes I know that the Dell product and support is good, but I was looking for a broader spectrum of recommendations. Anyone out there use a Toshiba or IBM? I did get a Sony recommendation; anyone else?
