Hi all, The Drug MNCs have been at the drug Clozapine from the beginning of its discovery and expiry of patent asso far they have NOT DISCOVERED any drug which can compete with it in regard to effectiveness, lack of side effects and almost quick recovery. So the Drug companies did not allow it to be inlcuded in the first CATTIE TRIAL in which other atypicals were allowed to compete with old typicals. Then they introduced the blood test and other types of hindrances for prescribing this drug as the LAST RESORT. Many a young Psychiatrist I have asked feel that Clozapine in slow dosag may be 1 or 2 mgs dosage could be starting point for treatment thereby eliminating need for all other anti/psychotics.But drug MNCs do not like this truth to come out and so give all sort of scare stories while I have interacted with patients who have insight and are very glorious in their praise of this drug. The mafia which control WHO at Geneva also donot allow this drug to be included in the 357 essential list of medications which determine free medication issue in third world countries.
