*Naveeta Singh * Sunday, January 16, 2011 A GoAir flight carrying over 150 passengers was delayed by two-and-a-half hours on Saturday morning after an allegedly mentally ill passenger howled “bomb, bomb, bomb” on board as the plane was about to take off.
The security agencies carried out a bomb drill and found it to be a false alarm. The passenger was handed over to relatives later. “The passengers were seated in the plane bound for Delhi. It was parked at bay number six of Mumbai airport when, at around 9.45am, a co-passenger, A Saha, 22, suddenly got up from his seat and started yelling,” said an official from Santa Cruz airport police station. Saha, a resident of Srinagar, was deplaned and was handed over to the airport police for further investigation. “We found that Saha had been to Goa for a holiday, from where he had come to Mumbai. We also learnt he is suffering from a mental ailment and we spoke to his psychiatrist who confirmed his condition,” said the official. “We called his relatives in Mahim and handed him over to them in the afternoon,” he said. The airline security and the bomb threat detection committee carried out an anti-sabotage check and declared the aircraft safe at around 11.15am.The passengers, sans Saha, boarded the plane, which took off at around 12.30pm. http://www.dnaindia.com/mumbai/report_mentally-ill-mans-bomb-bomb-holds-up-flight_1495078-all -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Mental Health Advocacy (News 'N Views) India" group.
