*NAGPUR*: There were four suicides in different parts of the city over the
last 24 hours.

In the first case, Nalini Poddar (45) consumed poison at her residence at
Annapurna Nagar, Pipla Road. She was a teacher in Navyuvak high school. On
Thursday, Nalini came home early, when her husband was at office while her
two children were in college. She consumed poison when alone at home. The
incident came to light when Nalini's 17-year-old son came back from college
and found his mother unconscious in the bedroom. He immediately informed his
father and they took Nalini to Government Medical College and Hospital. The
doctors there declared her dead. Nalini's husband told the cops, "Nalini was
mentally ill and had been under observation at a private hospital."
Hudkeshwar police registered a case of accidental death.

In the second case, Moreshwar Matnurkar (39) hanged himself to the ceiling
fan at his residence at Wasvi Artek, Godhni, under the jurisdiction of
Koradi police station. The deceased's wife and their two children had gone
out. When they came back they were shocked to see the hanging body in the
bedroom. Moreshwar's father and mother were at the home when the incident
took place. The cops are investigating to find the reason for the suicide.

In another incident, Durga Nikhare (40), a resident of Vyanktesh Nagar set
herself ablaze after pouring kerosene on Tuesday. Her husband Kishore
Nikhare told the cops, "In the morning she prepared tea for me but I didn't
drink it, and she got upset because of this." The reason for the suicide is
not yet clear, police said, adding that further investigations are going on.

In an incident at Dwarkapuri, under the jurisdiction of Ajni police station,
Pramod Khatarkar (30) hanged himself at his residence on Friday. The
deceased's father Devrao Khaterkar told police that Pramod was mentally
disturbed. Ajni police have registered a case and are investigating further.
