As I am a widow, I am the only earning member in the family and therefore have been working to keep the family going. However now I desperately need help as my daughter is unwell and I am increasingly unable to cope with the huge medical expenses incurred every month. My daughter Miss Rajashree Hemadee has been having behavioural problems since Sept 2009 such as obsessive compulsive disorder which has been diagnosed as due to personality disorder / Schizophrenia accompanied by epilepsy. She was admitted to a hospital twice for treatment - in December 2009 & January 2010 at Bhakti Vedanta hospital, Mira Road. However the doctors recommended further professional care and rehabilitation to enable observation, counselling & treatment, which was not possible at home. Hence from 24th January 2010 she was admitted to Chaitanya Mental Health Care, Pune. On 17th February 2010 she was shifted to Chaitanya: Centre for Psychological Help. She was given medication, counseling as well as vocational training in kitchen and small duties like filling water, cleaning and washing vegetables etc. to keep her busy. She partially recovered and was discharged on 12th June 2010 under the instructions of Dr. Rohan Jahagirdar and Dr.Shailesh Chougule, the doctors attending her at Pune. She is still under medical treatment of Dr. Devendra Save from Bombay. Dr. Harish Shetty, a well known child psychiatrist, is also helping me by providing free counseling sessions through a counselor. However, now the Doctors have told me that she will have to be put in a Rehabilitation Centre once again. I was unable to meet the mounting medical expenses required for her treatment only from my salary and therefore I have already been forced to take loans from many people. For many of the expenses I do not even have bills, as the circumstances were such that I was not able to do the same. I was hoping that I would be reimbursed by the mediclaim policy for my daughter, which covered expenses for 1 lakh, but I was given to understand that unfortunately insurance companies do not sanction claims for psychiatric conditions. I have already spent over Rs.One lakh since 2009 on her medical treatment and rehabilitation. I have taken loans from friends, relatives, the chemist as well as the money lender (who is charging interest) to the extent of Rs. 1.6 lakhs. I have been able to repay only around Rs.20,000/- and am still in debt of around Rs.1.4 lakhs. Hence I urgently require some financial help as in addition to the debt burden I am already under, I will again have to make some provision for these new additional expenses. I am really desperate as I do need to continue the treatment and counseling. I can provide all the medical reports for the treatment and rehabilitation my daughter has been undergoing as well as the bills for expenses incurred, as and when required. Hoping that some relief is forthcoming.
