*New Delhi* : The world's largest prison complex-- Tihar jail-- has now set
up music rooms to improve the mental health and morale of inmates.

"Introduction of music rooms has had a salutary effect on the inmates.
Besides giving an outlet for those who are already trained in music or
possess music talents, it provides a place where any inmate can learn music.
This keeps the inmates occupied and improves their mental health and
morale," Minister of State for Home Affairs Gurudas Kamat told Lok Sabha in
a written reply today.

He said the central government has issued an advisory on November 8 last
year "on the best prison practises to all the States/UTs with a request to
consider adopting these best practises being followed by various States/UTs
for efficient and effective management of prisons as also for better
reformation and rehabilitation of prison inmates."
