*Srinagar* : A 36-year-old mentally challenged person drowned in Sindh
nallah in the central Kashmir district of Ganderbal, official sources said
here today.
They said Bashir Ahmad Thakri was drowned accidentally in Sindh nallah at
Hari Ganiwan bridge, Ganderbal. Those present in the area at the time of
accident immediately jumped into the nallah but could not save him.

Later, his body was fished out at Manigam and handed over to relatives.

Meanwhile, body of one Shakir Ahmad Bhat, who was drowned in river Jhelum
near here on May 20, was not recovered so far.

Special divers from security forces, police and fire service department were
conducting massive search operations in the river but failed to fish out the
body.

However, on May 24, the rescue teams searching for the body of Shakir saved
a teenage girl, who also fell into river Jhelum at the same place.
