  Hi Nirmala,
I think I have sent this website to you before. Its the
easiest way to get it to you quickly.
http://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/1992/0046/latest/DLM262176.html
This will take you into the Ministry of Health Mental Health Directory. The
act covers all you will need. Its reasonably comprehensive. You will notice
it deal only with Mentally unwell people. The area of Intellectual Handicap
(IHC) is a completely different area of operation and should not be in the
Mental Health Act.

As to the residential half way homes and vocational I will try to obtain
something around those area’s. Over here that whole area of work is by
contract only. It covers respite care etc. Vocational can vary around the
country. Here in town I got a Clubhouse moving and it is running really
well. It follows the Fountain House model from New York.

This website
http://www.supportingfamiliesnz.org.nz/SFMI%20Mental%20health%20Act%20Brochure.pdf
is
from Supporting Families in Mental Illness New Zealand this is addressing
family needs and is informational which may be useful.

This is another site which may be of use
http://www.moh.govt.nz/moh.nsf/82f4780aa066f8d7cc2570bb006b5d4d/df90565be3c2b99a4c256849000ddeaf?OpenDocument

Another is
http://www.neac.health.govt.nz/moh.nsf/indexmh/mentalhealth-strategicdirection
which leads into the addiction area and may be useful.

All the above will certainly keep you busy for some time. The residential
arena is a big work in itself. But I believe having a Mental Health Act is a
must for the person and the families. That's where I would begin. Perhaps
another working group could work on residential.

Though Nirmala over all I am still inclined to say whilst there has been
some forward movement there continues to be an illusion of change.

Let’s hear if any of this is useful to you.

Very best wishes

Jim C

Hi all of you
It gives me a great feeling to address this mail to my golden friends like
you. I really miss the age of Innocence and ignorance that brought us
together. Hope we relive it but in a positive fashion. I shall be happy to
know about yourself and your families. The purpose of writing this mail is
to seek some urgent information / data.

   1. I am in the Policy Group of GOI on MH . We need to spell out Minimum
Standards of mental health care services and facilities under the new
legisaltion amended to be in sync with the UN CRPD. I need similar info
under the MH lehislations of your respective countries so taht we can
utilise that as a template for drafting ours. For example, what are the
Minimum standards to be followed in a residential half way home ; or a
   vocational skills centre? etc.
   2. Can you mail a copy of the MH policy of your respective countries?

Please treat this as urgent, personal request and respond at your earliest.

regards
nirmala
