Dear Mental health policy group,
I am posting a link to the Mental health policy document prepared by ICMR
with inputs from eminent
medical professionals mostly Psychiatrists of repute at that time. What it has
achieved to the patients
and their carers after the document was delivered to the Union Health Ministry?
As like Dowry
prohibition act, these are excellent documents and policy papers which remain
just that a sheet of
paper.

My humble request to the policy framing group  is how the policy is going to
be implemented in the ground
should be a focus area.
As the Mental health policy group has for the first time a user and carer as
members, we the user and carer group
expect something more tangible.
India is the land of Ayurveda, and our health Ministry has got
a separate department of AYUSH( Ayurveda,Unani,
Siddah and Homeopathy) but none of the experts in this field are included in
this policy framing group. We normally learn
from westerners when they rediscover our Vedic medicines and yoga. The
following link will give an idea of how Yoga
not only can cure depression but also can be used to prevent "Mental
illness".Hope our policy group
takes note of this.

  With kind regards.
