*28.07.2011* *Shimla* : The Himachal Pradesh High Court has directed the Principal Secretary (Health) to explain the compliance procedure of the Mental Health Act in the state and further sought information on steps taken by the administration for rehabilitation of mentally ill and fully cured patients, who do not have permanent address or their families have declined to accept them.
While passing this direction Justice Surinder Singh also directed all the Superintendents of Police to place on record the photographs and treatment chart of such mentally challenged persons found in their respective districts. Additionally the court also directed the Director General of Police and Secretary Health to explain the steps taken for creating awareness on “the Mental Health Act” and sensitization of police force on this aspect.
