*25-JAN-2012* *MADURAI* : Officials of the departments of Social Welfare and Differently-Abled Welfare have been told to identify wandering persons on roads and provide them with shelters. Collector U. Sagayam said that senior citizens including women and persons with mental illness, who were homeless, wandered on the streets. Many of them were sleeping on pavements, bus stop shelters and on the entrance to Railway Station here. The officials may carry out the exercise in two days.
By giving shelter to such homeless category, the officials could prevent them from getting exploited by anti-social elements.
