*GULBARGA* : Psychiatrist Ashok Pai has said that the response from the
Government to the proposal for establishing a cost effective mental health
programme was disappointing.

Delivering a lecture on ‘ Manasu-enidhara rahasya ' here on Saturday, Dr.
Pai said that the Manasa Educational Foundation for Mental Health, founded
by him, had submitted a detailed estimate for establishing community mental
health programmes in all the district headquarters.Dr. Pai said that mental
disorders are curable and modern medicine has come out with definite cure
procedures for all illness connected with persons with such disorders.

Dr. Pai said that there was lot of misconception among the people about the
mental illness and disorders and the first task was to remove them and make
people aware about the treatment facilities available.

He said that the Manasa Education Foundation for Mental Health was offering
postgraduate diploma courses in Psychiatric Social Work, Professional
Counselling and Psychotherapy, Sexuality and Sexual Counselling and Mental
Retardation.

The Manasa Education Foundation was offering these courses in collaboration
with Jalihal Gouramma Sanganabasayya Hiremath Pratishthana and the
