*28-JAN-2012* *CHENNAI* : Police on Friday detained a 30-year-old man, who allegedly attempted to con a businessman of Rs.3 lakh claiming that he knew the whereabouts of his teenage son who went missing last month.
Police sources Surendar Sai (15), son of Venkata Prasad Rao, a garment dealer and resident of Kani Koil Street, Korukkupet, went missing after he left for tuition classes. . Rao pasted posters about the boy with his contact number in different parts of the city. “On Friday morning, he received calls from a man who claimed to know where his son was. He even said that the teenager had asked him to stage a kidnap drama to get money from Rao,” said an investigating officer. Police teams tracked the phone calls to two numbers in Otteri and picked up a man, Suresh. Questioning him revealed that he was mentally ill.
