10-Jan-2013 NEW DELHI : A mentally challenged woman suffered leg injuries after she jumped onto the tracks of Welcome Metro station on Thursday, police said. Sources said she has lost her limb but police did not confirm it. Meena Chauhan, 28, of Vishwas Nagar was run over by a train after she jumped onto the tracks around 12.10 pm from platform number one, said Sanjay Bhatia, additional deputy commissioner of police (crime and railway).
Though the train’s emergency brakes were applied, Meena suffered severe leg injuries. She was taken out of the tracks by Central Industrial Security Force personnel and rushed her to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital. “Meena survived the accident with critical injuries and is undergoing treatment,” Bhatia added. Police are questioning Meena’s family to know if she was depressed and analysing CCTV footage available at the station to ascertain if she fell accidentally. It has been learnt that Meena is married to Gopal Singh Chauhan and has son Yuvraj, 7. Her family members claimed that Meena is mentally unstable, and on medication. http://www.deccanherald.com/content/304466/woman-jumps-metro-train.html -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Mental Health Advocacy (News 'N Views) India" group.
