23-Jul-2013INDORE: Thirteen mentally ill patients admitted to various mental health care centres in Kerala, have been sent back to Indore on Monday. The transfer was made following a Kerala high court order to shift patients staying in asylums in Kerala to their respective states. The patients were admitted to mental hospital in the city associated with Mahatma Gandhi Medical College (MGMC) and are undergoing treatment. Confirming the update, head of psychiatry department Dr Ramgulam Rajzan, said, "We have received 13 patients in the hospitals. They were scrutinized by the high court and sent back to Indore as they were residents of Madhya Pradesh." The patients were released from Kerala after the order was issued on the report by the Kerala State Legal Services Authority. The patients were admitted in mental and relief centres at Thrissur and Pallurthy in Kochi. Kerala State Legal Services Authority (KELSA) member secretary, P Mohandas had directed the officials, doctors, paramedical staff and helpers to accompany patients for Indore. Efforts will be now made to locate their relatives, said doctors.
