KRISHNAMOORTHY ERODE: On Tuesday, close to 60 in-patients of the Government Headquarters Hospital here were given a makeover and they spotted a new look, devoid of their unkempt hair and overgrown beards. Team Thanks to a group of 17 service-minded people, including six belonging to Tirupur-based New Deiva City Hair Arts Trust, who went about administering head and facial shave to elderly and chronically ill patients at the hospi tal, the patients here spotted a 'healthier' look. The team worked for about five to six hours continuously helping the patients including mentally challenged, tuberculosis and leprosy patients. About 10 orphaned children, taken care by the hospital, were also given haircuts. Hospital Superintendent R. Krishnakumar said the trust rendered a noble service with its gesture. The patients waited patiently as the trust members went about giving them their new look. After every shave, the kit was cleaned up, said N. Deivaraj, Managing Trustee. The six hair stylists, who run three saloons in Tirupur, make it a point to spare a day in a week, either on Tuesdays or Fridays, to render such services in hospitals. They fund the travel and other expenses themselves. Free service "We set apart a proportion of our earnings regularly for our free service," said Mr. Deivaraj.
