KOCHI : The Kerala High Court on Friday stayed the proceedings in a case
related to the death of Satnam Singh, a 23-year-old undergraduate student of
Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University, at the mental health centre in
Thiruvananthapuram in 2012. The case is pending before the Thiruvananthapuram
Sessions Court.
Justice K Ramakrishnan passed the order on a petition filed by Satnam's father
Harindra Kumar Singh seeking a CBI probe into the death of his son. He had
already filed a petition before the Sessions Court for initiating a fresh probe
in the case.
Last week the government had submitted the case diary related to the
investigation before the court. Satnam was arrested after he attempted to
approach Matha Amritanandamayi forcefully at her ashram in Kollam on August 1,
2012. According to the petitioner, the investigation into the death of Satnam
was a mockery and there had been deliberate attempts to save the real culprits.
