PUDUKOTTAI : Days after a mentally-ill man was beaten to death, police arrested
his 61-year-old father and younger brother in connection with the crime, at
Avudaiyarkoil on Friday.
Police said that the matter came to light after VAO Balamurugan lodged a
complaint with Avudaiyarkoil police claiming that Naina Mohamed (61), a grocer
and a resident of Mooriyur, and his younger son Dhajidheen (33) had gone into
hiding after beating to death Sheik Dawood.
Investigations revealed that on Tuesday, Sheik Dawood entered Naina Mohamed's
store and took money out of the cashbox. When questioned, Sheik picked up a
quarrel with his father and brother.
In a fit of rage, the father-son duo started beating up Sheik. During the
assault, Sheik lost his balance and fell outside hitting his head against a
parked tractor.
On seeing him bleed, Naina and Dhajidheen rushed him to the Aranthangi GH, from
where he was referred to the Tiruchy GH. After two days of treatment, Sheik
succumbed to injuries on Thursday.
