Hey all,

Just a final reminder that our monthly meeting is tomorrow, Wednesday=20
April 2nd, from 6pm to 8pm at the Mid Hudson Valley Library System
(directions can be found on our website http://mhvlug.org).

Rich Ferri will be talking about Linux Beowulf Clusters (i.e. how to make a
super computer out of old desktops). His talk will also include a
demonstration of a Linux Beowulf Cluster in action.

The agenda will look something like so:

6:00 - 6:15 : Opening Remarks
6:15 - 7:15 : Presentation & Demo
7:15 ~ end : Breakout and socialize

One thing that I've been thinking about is creating some semi formal working
groups.

There are at least three groups that would make sense to me, possibly more:

* Speakers Team - coordinate getting speakers for the LUG
* Publicity Team - coordinate getting the word out about the LUG
* Install Fest Team - bring together the install fests

I'd like to use the breakout time to start forming these groups in a
slightly more official way. My thought is that the groups would be self
organizing in whatever way they see fit, but should have a generally agreed
to chair person to be the primary point of contact.

There have been lots of folks you have volunteered for the install fest, and
a number of folks who have done some publicity for mhvlug by contacting
local papers and putting up the flyer in local businesses. I suggest that
we at least start to codify these groups by making places for them to meet
after the LUG speaker finishes.

The speakers team has mostly been me up to this point. If people are
interested in taking on that responsibility, we can kick off that group as
well. If not, I don't mind doing the work for now, as its been pretty low
bandwidth.

There may be other activitees that would require other teams. If anyone has
thoughts about what those would be, please post to the list. We'll also
open the floor to such thoughts during the LUG meeting, so people have a bit
of time to mull over the idea.

I hope to see all of you there at the meeting tomorrow, and bring friends
if you can. We had 47 people last month, and I'd like to have even more on
this go arround.

        -Sean

There is no silver bullet. Plus, werewolves make better neighbors than
zombies, and they tend to keep the vampire population down.
