   Searches require having the right vocabulary word; I've yet to use a laptop 
with a cell phone (and I've never had Sprint regardless), but I usually see 
this referred to as "tethering" to the cell phone:

Somebody on the Ubuntu forums seems to have this working (with Sprint) on a 
Blackberry 7130e:

A Gentoo user at this link has a hint to other hint that Novatel based USB 
devices on some Sprint cell phones work with Linux:
