I was wondering if anyone has done this with a PCI Express video card. I just tried it, and while my write speeds TO the video ram were excellent (around 500MB/s with dd and oflag=direct), I can only read at about 6MB/s. This is on a 9600GSO with a 192 bit memory bus, the card can communicate between the GPU and the RAM @ 38.4GB/s. Obviously you can't access the VRAM directly over PCI-E - it's up to the GPU, but I'd still expect much much better than 6MB/s. If I could even get in the 100 range, I'd be very happy.
Is there something I can tweak, or something I'm missing? Just using slram/mtdchar/mtdblock to do this. -Frank _______________________________________________ Mid-Hudson Valley Linux Users Group http://mhvlug.org http://mhvlug.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mhvlug Upcoming Meetings (6pm - 8pm) MHVLS Auditorium Oct 7 - Glade - Linux GUIs made easy Nov 4 - Google Wave Dec 2 - MythTV Jan 6 - Git
