Does anyone have a lot of experience with AMD SB raids? I get around 210mb/s reads per drive with my new SSDs, and 360-390mb/s with 2 in RAID-0. I'm getting a 3rd drive, not sure if I'm running into a bandwidth limitation already. I know I can't expect 100% of theoretical scaling.. but I'm just not sure what kind of maximum speeds I can expect. I'm about ready to see if I've hit a throughput wall. If I have, are there any RAID cards that anyone can recommend that will support 1000mb/s? I was looking to at least 4 SSDs in RAID 0 (~840mb/s). I'd hate to buy a real RAID card as I don't need RAID 5/6 or anything fancy.
It's already blazing fast, but I got Kingston 40GB drives (they have Intel G2 controllers+34nm flash) so I'm mainly doing the RAID 0 thing for capacity. I don't really NEED the throughput, but it'd probably drive me nuts knowing I COULD have that kind of insane throughput and be limited to something less. I do like using dmraid, makes it a lot cleaner with the Win7 dual boot on this machine.. so a second card and mdadm RAID is kind of out of the question. _______________________________________________ Mid-Hudson Valley Linux Users Group http://mhvlug.org http://mhvlug.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mhvlug Upcoming Meetings (6pm - 8pm) MHVLS Auditorium Feb 3 - Arduino Mar 3 - Sahana and 7 Years of MHVLUG Celebration Apr 7 - Nagios
