Something I recently ran across is Drupal Gardens which is Drupal 7 as a
service (http://www.drupalgardens.com/). You can start a basic drupal
website for no cost (they run some banner ads on your site), and upgrade
from there. This is similar to the wordpress.com hosting that many
people use.
This is not what you want if you want to install lots of modules, and
customize what's going on behind the scenes, but as a starting point
this may be appropriate for some people. They also make it easy for you
to export your site so you could host it yourself, i.e the freedom to leave.

There is no silver bullet. Plus, werewolves make better neighbors
than zombies, and they tend to keep the vampire population down.
