I think that just knowing my email address might be enough. Most email clients let you use a separate reply to address than the sending address. Some even let you hide the sending address. That's all that you need. You wouldn't need access to my account, just having the address.
Facebook is also involved in the transaction and their security problems are well known. -----Original Message----- Reply-to: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [mhvlug] Warning about email attachments from me Date: Tue, 18 Jan 2011 14:44:44 -0500 On Tuesday, January 18, 2011 12:56:05 pm [email protected] wrote: > I am advised by a friend of many years that I emailed her some photos to > her cell phone. > > I have not emailed any photos. Obviously you need to track down which email account was compromised and change the password on it. However, keep in mind that email addresses are easily faked, so there is also the possibility that it's simply spoofed email rather than an account compromise. -- Chris -- Chris Knadle [email protected] _______________________________________________ Mid-Hudson Valley Linux Users Group http://mhvlug.org http://mhvlug.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mhvlug Upcoming Meetings (6pm - 8pm) MHVLS Auditorium Feb 2 - Zimbra Mar 2 - MHVLUG 8th Anniversary - Show and Tell Apr 6 - Introduction to IPv6 _______________________________________________ Mid-Hudson Valley Linux Users Group http://mhvlug.org http://mhvlug.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mhvlug Upcoming Meetings (6pm - 8pm) MHVLS Auditorium Feb 2 - Zimbra Mar 2 - MHVLUG 8th Anniversary - Show and Tell Apr 6 - Introduction to IPv6
